Fill the hidden tank, tap the button and the lights come on while cool mist rolls out of the exhaust. No heat and no smell, so it is safe on any desk or nightstand. One fill lasts an evening, it runs off any USB port, and it shuts off by itself when the tank is empty. Add a few drops of a water-soluble essential oil and the mist carries the scent.
